THE PG-CSARRD PROJECT BACKGROUND
 
The project is technical assistance in nature and will be implemented in three (3) phases over seven years- Phase I will run for three (3) years commencing March 2003. Succeding phases will designed and undertaken based on achievements/outputs of Phase I. Project Phase I focuses on providing strategic approach. The project will assist the development and putting in place an integrated strategy for agrarian reform and rural development (ARRD). It will complement existing programs of government and rationalize the same through the synchronization and harmonization of programs, plans and budget for more effective and efficient rural development process. As this is just the first phase of progressive program, it will focus first at the National Level specifically on the institutionalization of a scientific and systematic mechanism for cooperation/collaboration, coordination, networking and information management between and among concerned agencies, institutions, civil societies and sectors that will synchronize development plans and programs and orchestrate the implementation of the development process. The project targets to achieve the following thre (3) key result areas:
  1. Stakeholders are assisted in the further development and efficient use of information management systems and networking;
  2. An improved strategy for sustainable rural development (RD) is elaborated and implemented in selected rural areas; and
  3. The capacity of stakeholders of implement rural development activities is strengthened.
